For water treatment by reverse osmosis, HAASE uses high-pressure stages to reduce the amount of concentrate to a minimum. Another option for the treatment of landfill leachate is ultrafiltration plus subsequent adsorption on activated carbon.
Maximum performance on minimum space: The leachate treatment plant at the Hannover landfill site only nees 600 square meters of ground sapce for the treatment of 400 cubic meters of leachate. The best solution was a combination of biological treatment (with injection of pure oxygen), single-stage ultrafiltration, and subsequent adsorption on activated carbon.
