HAASE BiogasUpgrader

Biogas processing: Biomethane at natural gas quality.

Since March 2008 the Ronnenberg BiogasUpgrader (Hanover) successfully feeds about 650m³/h of biomethane (bio natural gas) in the net of the Stadtwerke Hannover. The BiogasUpgrader in Rathenow (Brandenburg) will be almost double capacious and is scheduled to feed in at the beginning of 2009.
Most proftable technology for biogas upgrading
The HAASE BiogasUpgrader provides the most profitable technology for the production of biomethane (bio natural gas). It fits as a component to any biogas plant. If desired, HAASE Energietechnik can also carry out the construction of the biomethane injection plant.
The BiogasUpgrader upgrades raw biogas to biomethane with the quality of natural gas. It operates by physical-organic scrubbing. The scrubbing solution is regenerated during the process and helps to protect the environment with its low emission levels. Compared with other methods, e.g. such as high-pressure water scrubbing, chemical scrubbing and membrane methods, the biogas upgrader offers essential advantages.
Characteristics of the BiogasUpgrader
  • Methane concentration adjustable according to the requirements of the natural gas grid
  • Less than 1% methane loss
  • Exhaust levels according to the German technical instructions on air quality control (TA-Luft), in combination with the HAASE VocsiBox®
  • Sewage-free operation
  • Low energy consumption
  • Optional heat extraction
  • Integrated desulphurisation and dehumidification
  • High process stability
  • Availability up to 8,600 hours per year, in combination with a HAASE maintenance or plant operation contract

Criteria for high return of investment
Decisive for a high return of investment are not only the investment costs but also other criteria such as methane loss, energy consumption and the availability of the gas processing plant. Our detailed business cases consider all the technical, commercial, regional and legal determining factors.
Technology bonus according to German EEG
The HAASE BiogasUpgrader in Rathenow (Brandenburg), which was installed in 2009, fulfils the criteria for the technology bonus according to the German EEG 09.
Awards
The German energy agency, ?dena?, has distinguished our Ronnenberg (2008) and Rathenow (2009) biomethane projects in the context of the ?biogas partnership? as exemplary plants and services. BiogasUpgraders are included in both locations. In 2007, the BiogasUpgrader in Jameln received the innovation award from DLV for the renewable energy category. In 2008, Raiffeisen Genossenschaft Jameln received the innovation award from the German gas industry.
